You would find it strict under most imams of Islam. You would find it loose in liberal Christian sects. To find the second commandment obeyed in a maximally strict fashion, you can look to Hutterites and Amish communities. Even Sikhs, under some Gurus, respect the commandment against idolatry. ~~Emphatically~~ verse Four of chapter Twenty in the book of Exodus reads: Make no graven image, nor shall you make any likeness of that in heavens above, nor of that on earth below, nor shall you make any likeness of that in waters below earth. ~~In Concrete Examples~~ verses Sixteen to Eighteen of chapter Four in the book of Deuteronomy read: lest you act corruptly and make for yourselves a carved image in the form of any figure: the likeness of male or female, the likeness of any animal that is on the earth or the likeness of any winged bird that flies in the air, the likeness of anything that creeps on the ground or the likeness of any fish that is in the water beneath the earth. (NKJV) ~~The Commandment against Porn~~ The second commandment means: no movies, no statues, no pictures. It follows that you shall not incite covetousness and make a lot of money doing it with pornography sales, nor shall you even make free porn. Deuteronomy would literally outlaw Discovery Channel. It would also outlaw the vast majority of tangible currency. Even in the new testament, we hav it that "The love of money is the root of all evil". In the old, we would be reduced to the barter system. ~~The Commandment against Cameras in Church~~ If you should not photograph animals, then what does it mean in God's eyes when we lift ourselves, especially our clergy, up with one hour movies every week on youboob? I do not know, and I doubt that I want to know. The word idolatry occurs many times in the bible, especially when God's wrath is raised against hiz chosen people. ~~The Longest Commandment~~ Creating imajez are one thing. Worshiping them is another. The commandment against idolatry goes on to say that God means business with your descendants on the point of loving Him, and only Him; not Shania Twain, not Stephen Harper, not Justin Beaver, not Oprah Winfrey, not Bill Cosby. I could name fifty people in show business, and all of them are idols. My television haz been gon or unplugged since 1997, because I like to think I hav a life of my own to liv.
